Plugin Configuration

Detailed guide to configuring the AstroManager N.I.N.A. plugin for optimal performance.

Accessing Configuration

Options Panel

  1. In N.I.N.A., go to Options (gear icon)
  2. Scroll to "AstroManager" section
  3. All plugin settings are here

Quick Access

Click the AstroManager icon in the plugin toolbar for quick settings access.


Account Settings

Login Status

Status Description
Logged In Shows your email
Logged Out Login button available

Login/Logout

  • Login: Opens browser for OAuth authentication
  • Logout: Clears credentials (requires re-login)

Observatory Selection

Select which observatory this N.I.N.A. instance represents:

  1. Choose from dropdown
  2. All data syncs to selected observatory
  3. Change anytime (affects new data only)

Connection Settings

Auto-Connect

Setting Default Description
Auto-Connect on Start On Connect when N.I.N.A. launches
Stay Connected On Maintain connection during session

Sync Intervals

Setting Default Description
Status Sync 10 sec Equipment status update interval
Heartbeat 30 sec Keep-alive ping interval
Image Sync Immediate When to report new images

Reconnection

Setting Default Description
Auto-Reconnect On Reconnect if connection lost
Retry Interval 30 sec Time between retries
Max Retries 10 Attempts before giving up

Equipment Sync Settings

Choose which equipment data to sync:

Mount

Setting Description
Sync Position RA/Dec and Alt/Az
Sync Status Tracking, slewing, parked
Sync Pier Side East/West indicator

Camera

Setting Description
Sync Temperature Sensor and cooler temp
Sync Exposure Current exposure progress
Sync Settings Gain, offset, binning

Focuser

Setting Description
Sync Position Current step position
Sync Temperature Focuser temperature
Sync Autofocus AF results and history

Filter Wheel

Setting Description
Sync Current Filter Active filter name
Sync Filter Changes Report when changing

Guider

Setting Description
Sync Status Guiding, calibrating, etc.
Sync RMS Error rates
Sync Graph Guide data for display

Scheduler Settings

Target Selection

Setting Default Description
Min Altitude From AstroManager Override minimum altitude
Meridian Buffer 5 min Time before/after flip
Settle Time From N.I.N.A. Post-slew settle delay

Exposure Handling

Setting Default Description
Report Completed On Track finished exposures
Include Failed Off Count failed exposures
Batch Report On Batch updates for efficiency

Dithering

Setting Description
Enable Dither Use AstroManager dither settings
Dither Every Frames between dithers
Dither Amount Pixels to dither

Image Settings

Thumbnail Upload

Setting Default Description
Upload Thumbnails On Send preview images
Thumbnail Size 512px Preview resolution
Quality 80% JPEG quality
Upload Delay 5 sec Wait after capture

Image Tracking

Setting Default Description
Track All Images On Log every capture
Include Path On Store file location
Include FITS Data On Extract and send metadata

Logging

Log Level

Level Description
Error Only errors
Warning Errors and warnings
Info Normal operation info
Debug Detailed debugging
Trace Everything (verbose)

Log Location

Logs are stored in:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\NINA\Logs\AstroManager\


Advanced Settings

Performance

Setting Default Description
Background Sync On Sync in background thread
Compress Data On Compress sync payloads
Rate Limiting Auto Prevent API overload

Timeout Settings

Setting Default Description
API Timeout 30 sec Max wait for API calls
Upload Timeout 60 sec Max wait for image upload

Tips

Start with Defaults

Default settings work well for most setups. Adjust only if needed.

Logging for Issues

Set logging to Debug when troubleshooting, then return to Info.

Bandwidth Consideration

Disable thumbnail upload on slow connections.

Multiple Observatories

If you have multiple setups, ensure correct observatory is selected.
