Account Setup¶
This guide walks you through creating your AstroManager account and completing the initial setup.
Creating Your Account¶
Step 1: Visit the Application¶
Navigate to app.astromanager.app in your web browser.
Step 2: Sign In / Sign Up¶
AstroManager uses Microsoft Azure AD B2C for secure authentication. You can:
- Create a new account with your email address
- Sign in with an existing Microsoft account
- Sign in with Google (coming soon)

Click the "Sign In" button to begin the authentication process.
Step 3: Complete Registration¶
If creating a new account:
- Enter your email address
- Create a secure password
- Verify your email address via the confirmation link
- Complete your profile information
Password Requirements
- Minimum 8 characters
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number
Step 4: First Login¶
After successful authentication, you'll be directed to the AstroManager dashboard. On first login:
- Your 28-day free trial begins automatically
- A default observatory placeholder is created
- You're ready to configure your setup!
Initial Configuration¶
After creating your account, complete these essential setup steps:
1. Set Up Your Observatory¶
Your observatory defines your imaging location. Navigate to Settings → Observatories.
- Click "Add Observatory"
- Enter a name (e.g., "Home Observatory", "Remote Site")
- Set your coordinates:
- Latitude (e.g., 48.2082° N)
- Longitude (e.g., 16.3738° E)
- Elevation in meters
- Configure your observation parameters:
- Minimum Altitude - Objects below this won't be scheduled
- Horizon Profile - Optional custom horizon limits
- Click "Save"
Finding Your Coordinates
You can use Google Maps to find your exact coordinates. Right-click on your location and select "What's here?" to see the coordinates.
2. Configure Your Equipment¶
Navigate to Settings → Equipment to set up your imaging gear:
Telescope¶
- Name: e.g., "8" Newtonian"
- Focal Length: in millimeters
- Aperture: in millimeters
Camera¶
- Name: e.g., "ZWO ASI2600MC Pro"
- Sensor Width/Height: in pixels
- Pixel Size: in micrometers
Filter Wheel (Optional)¶
- Add your filter names
- Configure filter-specific settings
The equipment profile is used for: - Field-of-view calculations - Framing previews - Mosaic planning
3. Complete Your Profile¶
Navigate to Profile (click your email in the navigation menu):
- Personal Information
- First Name
- Last Name

Contact Email (for notifications)

- Newsletter subscription

Address (optional, for invoicing)
Understanding Your Subscription¶
Free Trial¶
Your free trial includes:
- ✅ Full access to all features
- ✅ 28 days duration
- ✅ No credit card required
- ✅ Automatic expiration (no charge)
After Trial¶
When your trial ends, you can:
- Subscribe - Choose a monthly, yearly, or lifetime plan
- Let it Expire - Your data is preserved for 30 days

Security¶
Authentication Security¶
- OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect via Azure AD B2C
- Multi-factor authentication available
- Encrypted password storage
- Session timeout after inactivity
Data Security¶
- All data transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.3)
- Data encrypted at rest
- Regular security audits
- GDPR compliant
API Keys¶
When you install the N.I.N.A. plugin, it will use your account credentials to authenticate. No separate API keys are required for personal use.
Troubleshooting¶
Can't Sign In?¶
- Check your email address - Ensure it's spelled correctly
- Reset your password - Use the "Forgot Password" link
- Clear browser cache - Sometimes old sessions cause issues
- Try a different browser - Rule out browser-specific issues
Email Verification Not Received?¶
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Add
noreply@astromanager.appto your contacts - Request a new verification email
- Contact support if issues persist
Account Locked?¶
After multiple failed login attempts, your account may be temporarily locked. Wait 15 minutes and try again, or contact support.
